Description
Linux is an awesome open source operating system kernel. This is a course about a bunch of GNU commands working on a system running with the Linux kernel. Usually called GNU/Linux - which is most of the Linux distributions that are available. If you need to know what a web server is or all the configuration options then this course doesn't have them and won't be for you, but it will give you all the information needed to be able to setup and configure a web server.
This course is literally all you need and more to master something that isn't UNIX
. Ultimately, anything extra would be up to you to learn and implement, which a Unix Master would do. What is covered in the shell scripting section is enough to build a Turing Machine, if you are familiar with them, which means you could do anything computers can possibly do. (From Wikipedia: "Despite the model's simplicity, given any computer algorithm, a Turing machine can be constructed that is capable of simulating that algorithm's logic."
From time to time there are course announcements made when I run into cool Linux blog posts by other people, and I'll share the link and say a little about it. All the commands covered are in the PDF files available to anybody.
Who this course is for:
• This course is for people who want to learn Linux as fast as possible to be able to do what they want to do. This course is probably not for you if you don't know what Linux is.
