Note : Yeah, it's the greatest movie ever from RoboCop director Paul Verhoeven, and it's... Really fucking trashy. This is straight-up sexploitation wrapped in a thin excuse of a story, features more tits than five regular sleazy movies, Elizabeth Berkley with the worst 90s lipstick ever conceived, Gina Gershon, honestly both too hot and too good for this kind of stuff, Kyle MacLachlan, sporting the dweebiest haircut of his career, and Gina Ravera, Glenn Plummer, Robert Davi, and Alan Rachins. The production values are pretty good, I guess, including quite nice cinematography by Jost Vacano, who also did RoboCop, Total Recall, and several others with Verhoeven, but honestly, if you're not here for either the tits, the ridiculous pool sex scene, or the riff commentaries, what point is there?
Nomi Malone is hitchhiking alone to Las Vegas when she's picked up by a driver who ends up robbing her and stranding her in Vegas without her suitcase, and she's taken in by Molly, a costume designer. The two become roommates, and Nomi works as a stripper, but longs to do better. Molly introduces Nomi to Cristal Connors, the star of the revue at the casino where Molly works, and soon, Molly is cheating, fucking, and tantruming her way towards top billing at the show, while getting naked at the drop of a hat, and being hit on by men and women on all sides. There's also a nasty gang rape scene, in case you thought this was getting too classy, and the story ends up kind of where it began, in a great circle illustrative of life in late stage capitalism.
This Vinegar Syndrome 4k remaster is quite good, clean and stable with nice color and contrast and well-managed grain, though it's not too sharp or rich in fine detail. 5.1 sound is good, the included commentary track is also kind of a joke track, and obviously the Jaboody Dubs track is, so you get a bunch of people making fun of this film, basically.
