Torrent Description

Day of the Dead (1985), directed by George A. Romero, Umbralle remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including 5.1 remaster, three commentary tracks, and English subtitles.

IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088993/

Video encoded in two-pass 14.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : The perhaps least seen of Romero's original Dead trilogy, this is definitely the darkest, gloomiest, and most depressing, and maybe also the goriest, with SFX makup by both Tom Savini and Greg Nicotero, and I have to say, the effects have never looked more realistic. While Night and Dawn were concerned with the outbreak, this is set after society has completely collapsed, and only pockets of survivors remain, and it's a look at how even a small group of people can't maintain the cohesion necessary to survive, as well as the cynicism and inhumanity of the military-scientific complex. The fine cast includes Lori Cardille, Terry Alexander, Joseph Pilato, Jarlath Conroy, Richard Liberty, and Sherman Howard.

Years after the events of Dawn of the Dead, the zombie apocalypse has destroyed civilization across the entire world. A group of soldiers and scientists survive in an underground bunker in Florida, where the scientists are trying to find a solution to the zombie pandemic, while the soldiers are supposed to protect them. Dr. Sarah Bowman, private Salazar, radio operator McDermott, and pilot John fly to Fort Myers to look for more survivors, but only find hordes of zombies. Returning, they're told the commanding officer has died. Dr. Logan, nicknamed "Frankenstein", believes the zombies can be made docile through conditioning, and keeps a collection of undead in a corral in the compound. Sarah opposed his research, she wants to try to find a cure for the infection instead, and when she discovers that Logan has been experimenting on dead soldiers, she reluctantly agrees to keep it a secret so the rest of the soldiers will not turn on them. When the new commanding officer turns out to be the unstable captain Rhodes, the situation in the bunker starts worsening, with the scientists on the receiving end of abuse and authoritarian administration. McDermott and John, who live in an RV in the far end of the compound, want to take the helicopter and leave, flying to a tropical island and trying to survive off the land, but things come to a head when Logan's price project, a mostly domesticated zombie named "Bub", is introduced to the soldiers.

As opposed to the other two films, this hasn't had a 4k remaster, so this isn't as good in terms of quality, but looks fine, with decent contrast and color, maybe a bit oversaturated at times, ok grain, and good enough detail. The 5.1 remaster sounds good, and the commentary tracks are interesting, especially the one dedicated completely to the effects.
