The Hornettes was a 1979 founded Grtaman pop music singing formation that existed until 1994. In 1981, the quartet entered the German preliminary to the Eurovision Song Contest with the song composed by Ralph Siegel Mannequin and reached the second place. In 1983, the quartet took part in the Austrian preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with Hello, Mr. Radio and reached third place. In 1994 the hornettes released the albums Holiday and Welterfolge as a trio (Gitta MacKay-Walther, Linda G. Thompson & Freya Wippich), produced by Jürgen Marcus.
